Overall rating : (1 to 5 stars)
The past year has seen a spawning of new dancehall styles and lyrics from some of Jamaica's best known and loved children in which, beyond doubt, the duo Steely & Clevie has played an important role. The last tones of their highly anticipated and world-beating "Bagpipe" riddim have not yet been faded away or Steely & Clevie already deliver the next wicked and exciting riddim. The dancehall massive is treated to some of the sharpest versions across an infectious harddriven computerized riddim presented by dancehall mainstays as well as up-and-coming young artists. Each version has its merits but included are some truly remarkable and/or outstanding cuts. The versatile dancehall giant Beenie Man really knows how to surprise his many fans as he delivers a solid combination cut with... himself !! The prolific and new dancehall sensation of 1998, Mr. Vegas, adds another great tune to his growing list of solid dancehall tunes. Newcomer Egg Nog - here represented with a solo and combination cut - is definitely a singer to watch out for in the near future as he delivers a more than convincing performance on both efforts. Also well worth mentioning are the contributions from Harry Toddler, Daddy Screw and Powerman. So, prepare yourself for this serious jugglin' business 'cause this up-front selection will definitely storm the decks of the selectors and fill the dancefloors of every dancehall all over the world.
