Overall rating : (1 to 5 stars)
"Sirius Records" from London UK has unleashed three solid to excellent 45s. Produced by Kenny Edgehill and Nereus Joseph every cut of the shimmering rub-a-dub riddim - laid by Mafia & Fluxy and mixed by Bubblers - has winning qualities. The riddim fits the vocal delivery of roots singer Errol Bellot - known from his works with London based sound system Jah Tubbys - perfectly well. Thus "Babylon" is a truly outstanding effort, well worth spinning over and over again. Also Selah Collins' "Must Get Free" immediately catches the ear. Although relatively unknown to a wide audience, Selah Collins proves a fine singer. Here he delivers a superb roots piece, well worth checking. Another matching cut of the riddim comes from the much promising African Simba. His "Strengthen The O.A.U." is a fully satisfying and inspired message tune and can be regarded as one of his best efforts since he emerged on UK's roots reggae scene.
