Rock Star Entertainment's
monstrous dark hardcore gangsta themed dancehall production 'Gangsta Gangsta' put the Hoosong brothers (from New Jersey, USA) a.k.a. Supa Shane and Elly-Ess, who also produced Rock Star's 'Onward'-riddim, firmly on the map as
producers. Elly-Ess not only produced the 'Gangsta Gangsta'-riddim together with his
brother but he also voiced the impressive "Nuh Inna Dat" over it and now he returns
as performing artist with this soon to be released single "Bad Boys".|
In case you wonder, Lester Hoosong a.k.a. Elly-Ess indeed rides the riddim of and samples snatches from Inner Circle's "Bad Boys" from their 1987 album "One Way" - the tune that was made popular by the television program "Cops", where it was played during the opening title sequence, with its instrumental playing during the closing credits - eventually going gold when released as a single in 1993. The Inner Circle tune remained popular throughout the 90s as it was also used for the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence action comedy "Bad Boys" and its sequel "Bad Boys 2".
Elly-Ess contributes his rockstone deejay vocals and these work very nicely with the sample of the world-famous Inner Circle chorus and that sample in combination with both Elly-Ess' gangsta lyrics and his flow lend the tune an undeniable 'Welcome To Jamrock' crossover-appeal, as you can hear by downloading the tune here. This is a very fine soon to be released tune, hopefully accompanied by tunes from some of the big names featured on the 'Gangsta Gangsta'-riddim for a full selection that will surely find its way to soundsystem selectors and 7" buyers.
