Overall rating : (1 to 5 stars)
Two great revive 45s on Joe Gibbs' re-styled "Crazy Joe" label : Culture's very first release for Joe Gibbs, the long unavailable "Burning An Illusion (This Time)" from 1976 and also the previously unknown deejay cut from Prince Far I to the aforementioned Culture tune. "Burning An Illusion (This Time)" is a strong roots tune, a gem in its own right, which fully showcases the excellent production style of the Mighty Two - Joe Gibbs and Errol T - as well as Culture's strong musical potency, already shining in the year before the release of their anthemic album "Two Sevens Clash". The late Michael James Williams aka Prince Far I delivers a solid cut. This gruff-voiced deejay - although he himself stated a preference for being called a chanter - performs his lyrics in his unique style, with the vocals of Culture going in and out the mix.
