Overall rating : (1 to 5 stars)
Former UK-based singer Mikey General - born Michael Taylor - built a solid reputation recording a series of strong dancehall tunes for London's Fashion Records in the eighties before he moved to Jamaica where he recorded his first full length album "Sinners" for Xterminator producer Phillip "Fatis" Burrell. Occasionally this fine roots singer returns to the UK to do some recording sessions. "Cut And Clear" is the result of teaming up with Mafia & Fluxy. The singer as well as the musicians/producers and engineer Calvin Francis have done a good job. With "Cut And Clear" Mikey General delivers an excellent effort over a wicked underpinning. One of the UK's finest roots singers, Levi Roots, brings the next version for the riddim. His "Red Hot" is a vital matching cut and belongs to one of his best pieces to date. Both dub versions are great and well worth checking out!
