Artist & tune
  • Damas - Red Hot
Overall rating : (1 to 5 stars)
After the release of his free downloadable debut album "Natty Take Ova" in 2013 (now finally available on vinyl LP format) and the collaborations with Italy's Mellow Mood, the singles "Free Marijuana" and "Keep Moving", up-and-coming Kingston-born artist Damas continues to make waves in the reggae arena. "Red Hot", produced by Marc "MacLes" Leys for his own MacLes Music Factory record label, sees the talented Damas coming up with a powerful social commentary. Delivered with real authority and underpinned by a catchy fresh original backdrop, Damas' latest effort is a compelling song with lyrics full of consciousness. Pretty sure many people can relate to this cautionary tune, which deals with the troubled times we are living in.
Run if you can, don't get caught in the sinking sand.
What's the plan?
Lasting on, through this armagideon?
Then, rastaman just know yourself,
get your deliverance, deliverance.
So I say: Youths know yourself.
Retrieve your sense and hold a meds.
Don't be no target pon a shelf.
"Red Hot" is another worthwhile single from Damas, who's definitely an artist to watch for in the near future.
