  • Tony Roots - Ease Off / Jah Warrior - Dub Off
Overall rating : (1 to 5 stars)
UK-based Tony Roots is a young roots reggae singer who was born in Jamaica where he went to school with Jepther McClymont aka Luciano. With the Jah Warrior produced "Ease Off" he delivers his third single ("Hola Zion" for Barry Isaacs' "Reggae On Top" label and "Intensional Invention" for King Originals' "Original Sounds" imprint were his previous efforts). Riding a version of the classic Studio One Burning Spear "Swellheaded" riddim in a one drop style Tony Roots delivers a satisfying effort, thus showcasing he's certainly a singer to look out for in the near future. The flipside contains a truly wicked killer dub version from Jah Warrior - featuring bongos by Tony Roots - which actually upgraded the rating from 3 to 4 stars!
