It's about three years ago, when Beenie Man first started making his presence known in the dancehall scene and probably no one expected him to stick around for long. However, by now he has proven that we should expect him to be around for a while. Next to the foundation of his own "Beenie Man Vibes" label his greatest step has been to diversify his style, ranging from taking advantage of his singing voice to simply using his extremely successful regular style. With "Extra Extra" - the first Beenie Man tune released on his own label - he delivers a solid performance, using a singjay style similar to newcomers like e.g. Anthony B. and Sizzla. The full sounding fast-paced riddim, with enough bass in the beat, brings its own power to the track. Silver Cat also uses the "Extra Extra" riddim to its fullest with two different cuts on this riddim. Silver Cat has a deep growling voice which he utilizes in a style similar to Buju Banton's old style. Both cuts are nice (with "Ghetto Hot" being slightly better than the "Funny" song), but in the end they are out-classed by the version of "the doctor".
