  • The Amharic - False Prophets / Irie Feelings / Dancehall Days
Overall rating : (1 to 5 stars)
Danny Amharic (singer, songwriter), Ronnie Lion (bass) and Jazzbo Victor Downes (keyboards) form the nucleus of The Amharic, a Brixton-based reggae group that has been recording and performing live since the early nineties. The Amharic offers an entertaining blend of roots reggae with a contemporary style, So far the group has released three albums namely "1990's", "1990's Showcase" and "His Imperial Majesty". Their latest release is this cd single, which features three brand new conscious tracks, all written by Danny Amharic. "False Prophets" is a great tune, vocally and lyrically excellent and a joy to listen to over and over again. The same goes for "Dancehall Days". Delivered across an appealing "one drop" riddim Danny Amharic reminds us of the "..days that dancehall was nice." In between we're treated to typical "feel good" reggae music. Although "Irie Feelings" is not such a strong effort as the other two tracks it has a nice vibe which makes it well worth of hearing.
