After the success of the 'Burning'-riddim built by House Of Riddim's Sam Gilly for
fellow Austrians Bassrunner
Productions in July 2005, Bassrunner's dancehall/reggaetón mixtape
"The Way U
Move" featuring Ill Inspecta & El Condorsíto and the collaboration
between Bassrunner Soundtribe selector Loopus and Sam Gilly resulting in
the impressive roots riddim 'Tragedy',
Bassrunner released their first must have (brave, with only European
artists) selection across the hardcore dancehall riddim 'Thug Funk',
followed by Sam Gilly and Loopus once more teaming up for the very
riddim backing another great selection of tunes. And now selector Loopus
has teamed up with R.I.C.H. for Bassrunner's very impressive second
hardcore dancehall riddim 'Ghetto Ride'.|
The first selection is an in your face businesscard for Bassrunner as label and this riddim as Busy Signal delivers the mighty "We Nah Smile", with UK's Bongo Chilli teaming up with Jamaican born UK based veteran singer Danman a.k.a. Sunny Voice for the great ganja tune "The Supply" on the flipside, before on the next 7" Da'Ville contributes the very impressive harsh "Coldhearted" with Hollow Point in fine form speedrapping his almost hookline-less "Cross Pon Chess".
Sweden's Million Stylez also chips in with a fine though heavily vocodered ganja tune "I Grade" with France's Mad Killah completely on top of the 'Ghetto Ride'-riddim on the AA-side for his "Buss Coppershot". The best European tune on the riddim is from a man I've been championing ever since I heard his first tune, Germaican Records' Ill Inspecta spitting his in "Fukk Reggae Light" with Ward 21 on the AA-side showing their return to form this year is lasting with "Walla Walla". These 8 tunes have been released as 7"s now and should be bought by all soundsystem selectors and 7" buyers.
But these aren't all tunes cut across the riddim, as in the coming month a couple of tunes will be available as exclusive downloads, before early 2008 Bassrunner's first one riddim album will be dropped containing at least these 12 tunes. Amongst them are Lexie Lee's excellent "Get Criminal", a great tune that fits in her truly excellent string of releases throughout 2007 and yet another successful Germaican Records artist, Saxonian Ronny Trettmann alongside Waffel, Bertram & Rene with the almost corny yet very cheerful "Feierabend", Vienna based Nigerian 3gga with the impressive "Bad Outta Road" and last but not Germany's Nosliw, whose "Geht Es Noch?" is a great way to finish these 12 tunes across this very strong 'Ghetto Ride'-riddim from Austria's Bassrunner camp.
