Overall rating : (1 to 5 stars)
Jamaican-born and raised in Montreal, Carl Henry began his musical career as a member of his church choir. Years of dedicated singing and vocal training then followed and finally paid off for this talented and compelling recording artist and songwriter, when he came to the attention of Cecil Collins, CEO of CeSoul Music. Two Billboard charting R'n'B singles were released, "Crazy Love" and "I'm Thinking", followed by the release of his Canadian full length debut albums "RNB" (in English) and "Solution RNB" (in French) in 2003. "RNB" yielded the singles "One Night Stand", "Sex U", "Did U Really", "Gimme" Love and "Being with you". In January 2004, Carl Henry returned back to his Jamaican roots with the international release of "Homie's Girl", produced by Mr. Doo from Shaggy’s Big Yard Camp on VP's "Riddim Driven ~Juicy" compilation. His second dancehall single, a combination tune with Ce'Cile for the hugely successful "Coolie Dance aka Coolie Skank" riddim entitled "Bare As She Dare", established Carl Henry's name further. For his latest single "Hot Gal" across the "Guala Guala" riddim the singer with the smooth voice has teamed up with the Jamaican-born toaster Rally Bop, who resides between Jamaica and New York. Making his recording debut in 1997, he began to record for different producers. His first two songs were "She's Like An Angel" and "Love Me" which caught the attention of producer Louis "Flabba" Malcolm from Mo Music. Flabba decided to create a duo of Rally Bop and a singer named Christopher, and that union produced the singles "Bashy Bashy", "Which Gal", and "Gwaan Michelle". The duo later split and Rally Bop took a musical hiatus. After about a year he decided it was time to get back into the business and pursue a solo career. Occasionally he's doing combination tunes as in this case with Carl Henry. With "Hot Gal" both artists - whose styles blend very well together - deliver an expertly produced tune. A guaranteed dancefloor filler with nuff hit potential!
