  • Smiley & Anthony B - Keep The Joy
Overall rating : (1 to 5 stars)
Since 1997 Dutch Caribbean reggae artist Smiley (real name Tavis Nedd) has steadily built his career, but it was only in recent years that he really started making a name for himself in the European reggae arena. Songs like "Distance", "Dem A Wonder" (the combination song with Junior Kelly), "Bad Minds" on the "Everlasting" riddim, and "State Of Emergency" on the "Youth" riddim, are good examples of Smiley's ability to deliver solid conscious efforts. In particular last year's "Lively Road EP" brought him notable success as its title song on Rootdown Records' "Kookoo" riddim became a hit song on the Caribbean islands Curacao and Bonaire; it reached number 6 in the Top 40 in the summer of 2010.

Now Smiley comes up with a brand new collaboration piece, the uplifting "Keep The Joy", which features Jamaican star Anthony B. The song has been produced by Al.Ta.Fa.An's Anthony Senior and is underpinned by the handmade "Strength" riddim. Singer Smiley makes a good impression, not least because his vocal delivery blends well with Anthony B's distinctive singjay style. It's not the first time Anthony B has voiced the "Strength" riddim as he already teamed up with Mark Wonder to voice a cut on the riddim, namely "Oh Woman (Don't Cry)". "Keep The Joy" is featured on the latest Riddim Magazine compilation cd, which is included in 40,000 copies of Riddim Magazine to be sold in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Furthermore it's available in online stores from February 18th 2011.
