|The same treatment that was given to the 'Rodeo'-riddim 3 years ago, releasing
a strong European selection of tunes as 'Rodeo Europe', has now been given
to the strong hip hop inspired 'Opium'-riddim by Germaica Digital, the new digital label of Germaican Records' mastermind and
producer Pionear. The first of two of the DJs that also appeared on 'Rodeo Europe' is one of Europe's
toughest DJ's, France's Mad Killah with the very strong appeal to "Put Down The
Gun", followed by Joddski (formerly known as Jørg-1 as member of Norwegian hip hop pioneers Tungtvann), who also runs Norways premier dancehall sound system Raggabalder Riddim Rebels in a combination with
UK DJ YT - making his debut on Germaican Records - delivering "Dead
Een Yeah" a pure soundbwoy killing tune.|
It can hardly be considered a surprise after the 2006 album "Polski Ogién ~ 20 Polish Reggae & Dancehall Tunes" that Poland has a lively dancehallscene and Bob One & Da Bass of Rub Pulse Soundsystem are featured in this selection with their fine ganja tune "Sensemilla" taken from that sampler. Italy is represented by LuMarra a.k.a Mixash, a young DJ from the new Salento dancehallscene with an explosive voice, featuring the sweet voice of Mikelino alongside him on the strange but entertaining "Microphone Check".
Before Bobby Buster teamed up Ill Inspecta as Germaican Scout, Bobby Buster was one half of the underground hardcore duo Backyard Crew, of which the other half seemed to have disappeared from the scene forever. But now Liquid returns, not with the controversy stirring extremely explicit patois lyrics from the start of this decade, but in his native German tongue yet still uncomprising lyrically with the tough "Der Auftragskiller". The last selection of this very satisfying European batch of tunes across the 'Opium Riddim' comes from Linz in Austria, as Bum Bum Kun$t & JACK Untaw€ga a.k.a. Sodom & Gomorrah combine Patois, Austrian dialect and autotune for the very entertaining "Mi Ba Dem".
Because of the strength of this riddim I am more than just pleased by the fact that the clean "Opium Version" of this hip hop inspired riddim credited to Pionear himself has already been included in the international release, that you should buy as well if you haven't done so already. This extremely nice 'Opium Europe'-riddim selection can be downloaded at: iTunes, mp3.soundquake.com, Virgin Megastore, Amazon, beatsource, junodownload, djdownload.com, Media Markt, Kompakt-MP3 and Saturn.
