Four brandnew, great roots tunes over an entertaining fresh riddim with a strong classic feel are delivered by well known vets in the business Cornell Campbell, Yami Bolo and King Kong alongside the lesser known roots veteran Sylvan White. The latter has been recording singles in the late seventies/early eighties for producers like Bertram Brown and Michael Chin, but is now becoming known to a broader audience through the release of his album "Africans Unite". Here he's present with the recently recorded "Roots Man Time", which fully shows this fine roots singer's skills and talent to deliver a great tune. Cornell Campbell delivers a noteworthy effort over the same riddim, once again making clear that his new tunes are truly well worth checking these days. Yami Bolo performs in his well known vocal style and seemingly feels very comfortable with the riddim. "Jah Fire Throne" is a typical Yami Bolo tune, one belonging to the kind of tunes that made him a well respected and much anticipated artist among roots fans. Also King Kong, who has been inactive for a long time, delivers a solid tune utilizing a powerful, gospel-tinged wail which reminds of the late Tenor Saw.
With these (and their other) releases "Roots Foundation Records" not only serves and pleases the fans of vintage roots, but also those who want to be treated to quality modern roots with a classic feel.
