Germany's most popular soundsystem, the mighty Pow Pow Movement in the last couple of years have made a big impression with their productions, 'Celebrate', the outstanding new version of Leslie Kong's riddim used for Desmond Dekker's big international archetypical rude-boy summer hit from 1967, fully benefiting from a clear, bouncing sound and authentic touch 'Shanty Town (Double 'O' Seven)', the wicked live one-drop-riddim 'Blaze', the superb 'Superior'- riddim, the aimed at the bashment massive 'Gladiator', and the very nice new roots riddims 'First Sight' and 'Overstand'.

These productions resulted in 7 excellent one riddim sets, "Shanty Town", "Blaze", "Superior", "Gladiator", "Celebrate", "First Sight" and one year ago in "Overstand". Lately Pow Pow also released their second one-artist album (following 2006's satisfying "King Of Kings" from Elijah Prophet, Zareb's convincing debut album "Authentic Love". And now, entering 2008, Ingo Rheinbay has released the '3 the hard way' album "The Pow Pow Triology" concentrating on 3 often on Pow Pow riddims featured Bobo singjays; Turbulence, Jah Mason and Anthony B and two new roots 7" selections, the 'Follow' and this 'Ruff & Tuff'-riddim.

The first tune is Jah Mason's tune "Ruff & Tuff", his call to keep the faith, for which this smooth and relaxed riddim (that appeared first under Elijah Prophet's "Johnny" on his 2006 album "King Of Kings") is the perfect backdrop, with Malijah's "Keep On Moving" showing he is a truly fine up-and-coming singer, surpassing his earlier efforts for Mafia & Fluxy over their 'Zion' and 'Borderline'-riddims, for Kinky Music over 'Black Rain' and for Pow Pow over 'First Sight, on the flipside. Anthony B once more (as he seems to be inspired to do so on Pow Pow productions) turns to a lovers theme for his plea to his former lady "Come Back" before underrated and heavily underrecorded chanter Steve Machete, who shared the "Saddle To The East" album in 2001 for Brickwall with Jah Mason and Anthony B, shows he still possesses the talent that brought him to the foreground then with the very impressive "I Rise".

Norris Man always seems very comfortable over these kind of riddims, no matter whether he delivers lovers lyrics or sufferers' reality as he proves here with "Everywhere I Go" paired with Elijah Prophet delivering his magnificent heartfelt "Johnny" on the other side of this 45. Not (yet) available on vinyl is Ray Darwin, the Jamaican artist from Germany's Hamburg continues his (still surprisingly small) string of convincing tunes recorded since his surprise hit "People's Choice" with the brilliant "Testify", that isn't even available as a download yet. But even lacking the Ray Darwin tune this is a must have Pow Pow 7" selection for every soundsystem selector and every 7" buyer, that is not only distributed by One Love Jamaica but that is available as well as digital download through www.finetunes.net with the addition of the smashing "Ruff & Tuff Version", unfortunately not yet with the inclusion of Ray Darwin's "Testify".
