Overall rating : (1 to 5 stars)
The Maximum Sound label comes up with two (limited edition) 12" singles, both on the "Skateland Killer" riddim. The riddim itself is a nice uptempo reworking of Eek-A-Mouse's 1984 tune "Star Daily News and Gleaner", complete with a spoken intro from an unknown deejay. Frenchie has mixed a power driven sax riff from reggae music veteran Dean Fraser into the riddim, raised the tempo and the results sound so very contemporary! Great job guys!

The first 12" single brings us on the A-side the awesome roots piece Rebel / World Wide Rebellion by Tarrus Riley and Frenchie's longtime friend Captain Sinbad. One long track, with no pause before the deejay track drops in. The B-side displays the musical qualities of Dean Fraser. Skateland Sax is a wonderful instrumental cut of the riddim.

The second 12" single brings us more nice vibes! Alborosie made his breakthrough with quality roots tunes, and now he surprises us again with his lick of the riddim. Jahnhoy is a strong and convincing roots tune, ready to conquer the reggae massive. The same goes for the Messenjah, Luciano. He has giving the reggae community countless wicked roots tunes, and By Jah Will is yet another gem. He even does some deejaying on this one! The last tune is the dub version of the riddim.

Frenchie did a great job on that vintage Eek-a-Mouse tune! A must buy!
