Overall rating : (1 to 5 stars)
Matthieu 'Bost' and Jérémie 'Bim' Dessus who together form the successful French production and remix duo The Bombist a.k.a. Bost & Bim release their wonderful one-drop 'Soprano'-riddim on 7" and as digital download, with a one-riddim album coming up later this spring. It's a wonderful smooth riddim with a magnificent bassline, wonderful saxophone melodies and a very nice dubby break halfway through that is a perfect backdrop for the 8 tunes recorded over it.

Sizzla Kalonji kicks it off with the smashing "It's Just You And I" followed by the very strong "Serious Time" by French bassplayer, composer and singer Koxx A.k.a. Koxx. One of the most talented French reggae dancehall artists, Lyricson, born as Soulemane Boukara in the Republic of Guinea, Western Africa, in 1979, shows once more what a great voice and timing as well as lyrics he has with "Those With No Love" followed by fellow Frenchman Admiral T with the also very impressive "So Clean So Nice".

As always on Bost & Bim and Special Delivery productions Trinidad's Queen Omega delivers a very convincing tune with "Jah Dawta" and then Omar Perry contributes the very nice lovers tune "Woman I Love You". Unfortunately the lyrics of the sweet "Reggae Music" by Saik are in French, but it is a very fine song even if you don't catch the lyrics and it's followed by young Swiss reggae artist Raldo Asher with his auto-tuned anti-pollution tune "Toxic City" that makes a strong impression as well.

The magnificent clean instrumental version of the "Soprano Riddim" is included as well and it just makes you realize how brilliant it is, just like the "It's Just And I (Acoustic Version)" emphasizes the strength of Sizzla's vocal delivery. This is a must have 7" selection that is also as digital download available through www.believe.fr and will undoubtedly be available soon at both mp3.soundquake.com, finetunes. And hopefully the one-riddim CD will be released very soon indeed.
