Sonia Collymore has developed a unique sound, the direct result of her years backing up many prominent vocalists. One of the more accomplished artists Sonia sang backup for was Leon Caldero, the ever-popular calypsonian, now a member of Byron Lee and the Dragonaires. Although in the Reggae arena, she first provided background vocals for Canadian JUNO Award winning Reggae Artist - Nana McLean, her tenure with Beres Hammond, has proven to be the most rewarding to date. It was an experience which not only has honed her talent, but also caused that she has found her niche in reggae music. Her debut single "Breathe" won her Top Female Reggae Newcomer and Top Reggae Single of the year at the 17th Annual Canadian Reggae Music Awards in 2001. She followed that win with Top Female Reggae Singer of the year at the 18th Annual Canadian Reggae Music Awards in 2002. In 2003 she won the JUNO (the equivalent of American Grammy Award) for Reggae Recording Of The Year for her self-penned song "You Won't See Me Cry". Now the strong-voiced Sonia Collymore is back on the scene with her brand new single titled "Takes 2 To Play The Game", a solid lovers rock tune that tells the story of betrayed love and pay back. Sonia delivers an entertaining effort, fully displaying her talent as a fine songwriter and powerful singer with a soulful delivery. Add the appealing and well laid original riddim and it's obvious that we're treated to a song worth of hearing over and over again.
Note : This single is taken from Sonia Collymore's forthcoming 14-track album titled "WYSIWYG" ("What You See Is What You Get").
