After the success of the 'Burning'-riddim built by House Of Riddim's Sam Gilly for fellow Austrians Bassrunner Productions in July 2005, Bassrunner's dancehall/reggaetón mixtape "The Way U Move" featuring Ill Inspecta & El Condorsíto and the collaboration between Bassrunner Soundtribe selector Loopus and Sam Gilly resulting in the impressive roots riddim 'Tragedy', Bassrunner is now releasing their first hardcore dancehall riddim selection 'Thug Funk'. The brilliant tune giving the riddim its name by Germaican Records's new star Ronny Trettmann is not included in this batch, but will supposedly be featured on his upcoming EP "Kaffee" from Germaican Records. The selection, heavily concentrating on European artists is a must have nevertheless. Produced by Florian 'Flozotic' Richling (who produced 3gga's debut dancehall album "In Di Ghetto" earlier this year) together with Bassrunner's selector Loopus. UK deejay sensation YT impresses with the heavily vocodered "Overhype" speaking out against those with more hype than talent, backed with Nigerian 3gga calling up the girls to dance in "Gimmi Di Wine". Swedens dancehall sensation of French-Japanese descent Million Stylez (whose upcoming debut album "From A Far" will be reviewed next week) is taking a fierce stance against fakers in "U Nuh Badman", with Bassrunner's own MC El Condorsíto's "Esta Noche" delivering his night storyin fine style. Ill Inspecta is in deadly shape (following in the footsteps of Chuck Fender's controversial "Gash Dem") calling for the rise of the Winchester to bun out the child molesters in the brilliant "Lay Dem To Rest" with UK's Bongo Chilli's "Warning" being impressive on the flipside. Mad Killah, one of the very best dancehall artists in France, not to say Europe, currently, is delivering the great ganja tune "Burn Marijuana" with Benjie hopefully starting his deserved comeback with the thoughtful "Moslem, Christ, Buddhist & Rasta". This is a must have (brave, with only European artists) selection for every soundsystem selector and other 7"-buyers as soon as it hits the streets later this month.
