Artist / Title : Cornell Campbell - Wanti Wanti / Version
Label : Roots Foundation      Format : 7" Single      Date : 18-04-2001
Rating : (1 to 5 stars)

Falsetto voiced Cornell Campbell, born 1948, Jamaica, first recorded for Studio One, and was a member of both The Uniques and The Eternals. At the beginning of the seventies he got involved with then leading Jamaican producer Bunny "Striker" Lee, for whom he recorded numerous lovers and roots slices. The early eighties Joe Gibbs' set "Boxing" remains one of his most loved albums. From the mid-eighties on he only recorded sporadically, but it seems Cornell Campbell is back on the track again. Last year saw the release of a solid new album entitled "Big Things", recorded for New York-based producer Don Moodie, and now one is treated to an excellent brandnew tune released on the "Roots Foundation" label. Riding a classic sounding, but fresh "live" laid roots riddim, this "Wanti Wanti" tune shows that Cornell Campbell is still in peak form.
