After the release of acoustic albums by Richie Spice ("Soothing Sounds", 2012) and Tarrus Riley ("Mecoustic", 2012) it's now dancehall/reggae veteran singer Barrington Levy who comes up with an album that includes acoustic versions of his chart toppers as well as two new songs: "Times Hard" and "Life Is Great", which features the German singer Patrice. It actually represents the first studio album by the singer since the 1998 released "Living Dangerously" set.

Barrington Levy's outstanding career really took off when he started to work with producers Henry 'Junjo' Lawes and Hyman 'Jah Life' Wright in the late '70s. For both record producers he recorded singles with the Roots Radics such as "Al Yah We Deh", "Looking My Love", "Englishman, "Wedding Ring Aside", "Collie Weed", "Sister Carol", "Look Youthman", "Eventide Fire A Disaster", "Mary Long Tongue, "Under Mi Sensi", and "Prison Oval Rock", and "Murderer", all of which became hits and established Barrington Levy's career as a top-class reggae vocalist. Later on he scored hits with tunes such as the Jack Scorpio produced "She's Mine" and the Paul Love aka Jah Screw produced "Here I Come", "Too Experienced" and "Dancehall Rock". His last real big hit was the 1996 released single "Living Dangerously", done in collaboration with Bounty Killer.

The one who is affectionately called the 'Mellow Canary' shines bright on this thoroughly enjoyable album, for which he worked with producer/musician Handel Tucker and C-Sharp Band's guitarist Lamont 'Monty' Savory at Mixing Lab studio in Kingston, Jamaica. Each and every track is constructed solely around Barrington Levy's vocal, which enables him to display his strong, pure vocal style to the fullest. Of course, most of the tunes included here are very familiar to the ears of the reggae fan as their original versions have been heard countless times. Still it's a real joy to hear these timeless songs again as the acoustic style makes them sound real fresh. Personal favourites are "Unda Mi Sensi", "Be Strong", "Times Hard" and "Life Is Great"

A great unplugged set, not to be missed!!!
