Boom Shaka is a reggae band based in Los Angeles, California and was founded by Dominican lead singer/songwriter Trevy Felix in 1986. The first incarnation of the group hit the ground running and quickly released their first single, "Dig A Dis, Dig A Dat" b/w "Ponderous". After fleshing out their sound with two new members, they recorded their first album, "Creation" in 1988. Initially a limited release on their own "Baga Style" label, "Creation" was soon picked up by Celluloid Records, which released the album on a larger scale with the addition of some newly-recorded material. Boom Shaka's debut set "Creation" is finally remastered and available for the first time in 12 years. Once having played this album in your CD player it's obvious why "Creation" is regarded as their debut landmark recording that established the group's name. Although the album contains music from more than a decade ago and thus carries that particular feel and sound of the late eighties it is still worth while listening to and it keeps you involved to the very end. Boom Shaka's musical delivery can be typified as roots rock reggae. Well crafted songs, conscious lyrics, good arrangements and an accessible reggae sound can be regarded as the core of their music. All this makes that this solid album will delight many reggae fans. Key tracks are "Creation, "Wicked Man", "Pieces Of Africa" and "Galang".
