Daniel Asher & Jah Covenant Band is a well respected name on the Nordic reggae scene and have performed at Uppsala Reggae Festival, Öland Roots and Raggapak in Denmark. They also won the Rototom Sunsplash Scandinavian Reggae Contest in 2008. All members of the band have played reggae since the early 80's with Swedish reggae acts such as Chilly & Leafy, Tony Ellis, Governor Andy, The Cigarres and Urban Tribe from Stockholm.

With the debut album "Stand Tall!" Daniel Asher & Jah Covenant Band "take another step forward". It's a very traditional one drop reggae album with a pleasant 70's vibe, offering you twelve roots reggae songs. The Jah Covenant Band (consisting of Atte OneDrop - Drums, Jonas Paulsson - Bass, Sven Wikström - Keyboards, Gunnar Svensén - Keyboards, Marcus Ludde - Guitar) create a swinging backdrop for Daniel Asher's strong vocal outings, which at times reminds us of Alborosie and Bob Marley. It's too bad they didn't use a real horn section. We don't know why they didn't, but we're sure that their sound would have sounded even more powerful and authentic.

Anyway, if you're a fan of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear and Steel Pulse it's not a bad idea to check out this album.
