After the great daddy U.Roy showed them the way, the early '70s saw the first wave of deejays including Big Youth, I.Roy, and Dennis Alcapone. But it was the Jamaican deejay Lester Bullocks who gained commercial success and found international stardom in the late seventies as Dillinger with his huge hit "Marijuana in my brain", the titletrack of this re-release. This album collects tracks Dillinger recorded for producer Bunny "Striker" Lee, most of them wicked and heavyweight, showing us Dillinger deejaying over mostly well-known Johnny Clarke tunes. Most probably the majority of the cuts were recorded at Channel One and mixed at King Tubby's by Osbourne Ruddock aka King Tubby himself. Marvellous old time deejay stuff !
