Lazah Current was born in Jamaica but moved to Kitchener, Ontario in Canada. He joined the group Messenjah, playing keyboards with them as they established their reputation as one of the most popular reggae bands in North America. He also released some singles on his own label and he gained various awards in 1994, 1995 and 1996. Glorious Ride is his first album, filled with sixteen songs 'for your listening and dancing pleasure'.
Lazah Current is blessed with a very powerful and energetic voice who delivers with ease both hardcore dj dancehall cuts -check out Style, Say Yea, Mock Di Dread as well as sweet lovers tunes such as That Smile and Your Man, the latter using the chorus of Bob Marley's 'Waiting In Vain'.
The album contains a variety of styles, ranging from conscious reggae tunes, dancehall tracks, soul influenced songs and even a reworking of an aria from an Italian opera ! Each song has a distinctive character of it's own. Standout tracks on this enjoyable debut set are I See The Light, Strong Black Woman, Support Your Community, Ready Fi Di Ride, Going Home -build around the Satta riddim-, and Message. Fire burn !
