Trevor Hartley hails from Morant Bay in Jamaica's St. Thomas parish and voiced two recordings for the Jamaican "Pele" label before he emigrated to the U.K. in 1978. His career already spans two decades, with several of his singles reaching the higher and lower echelons of both the U.K. pop charts and reggae charts (with "Hooked on you" being a reggae no. 1 in 1988). Although having a faithful following in Britain he's rather unknown to reggae fans worldwide. And that's truly a pity 'cause Trevor has a real good and powerful voice as is showcased on this "Hartical" album. The inclusion of eight original songs on the album (two co-written) proves that he also has songwriting skills. The foundation of this album, which includes love songs as well as message tunes, was Trevor Hartley's work with Leroy "Heptone" Sibbles and recordings with the U.K. rhythm twins Mafia & Fluxy. Trevor Hartley is a singer with an unique and appealing voice and this CD is a good sampler of his sound !
