Dennis Brown has to be considered one of the most prolific and popular reggae artists ever. He was born in 1956 and started recording for producer Coxsone Dodd, while still in his childhood. In the 70s and early 80s he established himself as a major force in reggae music with numerous roots and lovers cuts for several leading producers. In the nineties he remained a name always worth watching out for. He passed away on July 1st, 1999. A whole generation of Jamaicanís and reggae fans literally grew up with his music. A devout Rastafarian and a member of the Twelve Tribes of Israel Organization, Dennis Brown was a musical genius and he will be dearly missed. No doubt Dennis Brown (also known as the Crown Prince of Reggae Music) was one of Jamaica's sweet-voiced singers, who has never limited himself to one style.
As a 14 year old boy Junior Delgado (real name Oscar Hibbert) started his recording career as a member of the band "Time Unlimited", whose first recordings were produced by Lee "Scratch" Perry. After he had left this band to try his luck as a soloist Delgado recorded for most of the main producers in Jamaica, showcasing has skill and talents as a fine songwriter and roots singer. For more than 30 years Junior Delgado has been his friend, brethren and spiritual advisor. They started producing music together in 1975 for D.E.B. Productions and various other record companies.
This entertaining album features some of Dennis Brown's most enduring tunes he recorded in his illustrious career. Junior Delgado's vocal delivery makes this album a moving tribute to his friend. He has picked some of Dennis best known tunes, but also some lesser known gems are found here. The backing is provided by some of the UK's most experienced musicians and Junior Delgado's production is flawless.
