Jetlox Lion is the solo artist name of singer Jay Lorou (originally from Ivory Coast, Africa), who has built up a good reputation as the frontman of Dutch reggaeband New Sound Sistim. At the end of 2008 we reviewed their debut album "This World" and we were really impressed by their effort.

The summer of 2010 sees the release of Jetlox Lion's first solo album called "Unity". For this new collection of tunes he teamed up with producer Asher E. and they came up with a one-drop based reggae (mini-) album, in contrast to the New Sound Sistim album, which displayed influences of jazz, soul and hip-hop. The "Unity" set contains 5 vocal tracks and one dub workout. Let's Dubnite is the dub version of the key track Let's Unite.

Jetlox Lion's songs deal with situations and events that are taking place in the world, and particularly in Africa, as his motherland suffered from a civil war a couple of years ago. The track Peace And Harmony is an appropriate tribute to Joseph 'Culture' Hill, the reggae veteran who died in 2006. Next to the conscious songs there's also room for a nice love song called On My Mind.

"Unity" is a good effort from this talented African vocalist.
