After the just released single "Wie Weit" finally Nosliw's debut album "Mittendrin" hits the stores. Following Mono & Nikitaman's "Das Spiel Beginnt" this is Rootdown Records' second full length single artist release, and it's a even better. Opening the album is a track over a live played riddim by Berlin's Ganjaman "Geht Es Uns An" Is It Our Business against imperialism, before the beautiful by Rootdown's own Thilo 'teka' Jacks produced "Musik" that was already featured on his 2002 EP "In Vollen Zügen" follows. For "Königin" Queen Nosliw gets a hand not only from the Uptone producerteam (also known esp. Andreas Brikalin for their work with Silly Walks, Luciano and Turbulence) but also from German soulsinger and chartclimber Max Herre, the best non reggae artist I ever witnessed on the Summerjam stage. Pure bashment in the next teka produced "Yes", before the Andreas 'Brotherman' Cristophersen / Silly Walks / Shashamane backing with Richie 'Dr.Ring-Ding' Senior's trombone provides the roots backdrop for the excellent "Manchmal" Sometimes. Following is the superb "Wie Weit", of which the also live played and trombone 'Crystal Woman'-riddim is now taking the route that Germaican Records and Silly Walks walked before, that is being voiced by top ranking Jamaican artists. For the megamix featuring Anthony B, Chuck Fender, Elijah Prophet, Jahmali, Luton Fyah, Rebellion, Richie Spice and another Rootdown artist Maxim, as well to order these 7"s just click here. Another Andreas Brikalin / Uptone riddim is backing the melancholic "Gar Nicht So Mies" Not That Bad, before it's bashment time again with the bouncing "Alarm" over Seeed / Germaican Records excellent 'Electric Boogie'-riddim. Beautiful lovers in "Neben Dir" Next To You over a teka riddim featuring real string is followed by the more deejayed than sung "Alles Wird Gut" Everything Is Gonna Be Allright with its touching lyrics about children that went down the wrong way from start. Thematically along the lines of "Geht Es Uns An" is "Es Ist An Der Zeit" It's About Time Now over another live played, self composed, teka produced riddim. "All Das Sag' Ich Dir" All That Is What I'm Saying To You is a superb love gone wrong combination with the excellent seldom heard Vanessa Mason, who some might remember from her excellent feature on Tolga's "Now That I Am Here" album. The next tune features Rootdown colleague Nattyflo and tells the story of the importance of encountering the right people, in this case each other in "Begegnungen" Encounters. Another love, of even worse, life gone wrong tune uses an R&B-ish ballad riddim by to me unknown producers Sashliq & Jules to full effect for "Tag Für Tag" Day By Day before the tune that made Nosliw rise to fame finally booms out of your speakers: "Nur Dabei", his marvellous tune about the not-politically and socially involved youths, just letting all misery happen on Seeed/Germaican's 'Doctor's Darling'-riddim. The acoustic guitar of producer teka is the only backing for the impressive "Ich Geb' Nicht Auf" I Won't Give Up about rejecting a job taking your soul is closing this absolutely brilliant full length debut. A suprise is the ironic outro after a couple of minutes silence which I won't spoil by telling what it is. This is probably the best German language reggae/dancehall album ever released.
