Chain Gang Label, a division of Flynn & Flynn Music, Inc., is based in Hartford, Connecticut with a studio in Miami, Florida and is jointly owned by Dr. Paul and Owen Flynn.
Owen Flynn and Mickey Simpson went to school together and grew up in the same neighbourhood and had the same interest which was music. Mickey started out his music career by singing in school talent shows and festival competitions. After having worked with producers Harro Thompson and Jack Ruby he was assigned to Flynn & Flynn Music. The result is this album which was recorded in the first half of the nineties at Groove Recording Studio, Ocho Rios, JA. All instruments are played by Barry O'Hare, who is also responsible for recording and mixing this set.
It's too bad that Mickey Simpson wasn't able to develop his musical qualities as he was stabbed to death a couple of years ago. His musical potential is quite obvious, he has a smooth vocal delivery and sure knows how to write a tune ! Most songs found here are lovers tunes, but with more than enough body and soul to please all reggae fans. Besides his big hit Save A Little Bit For Me (here presented in a different mix) the album features a cover of the Motown classic Get Ready and Mickey's rendition of Dobby Dobson's hit Loving Pauper. Furthermore he uses some vintage reggae riddims such as "A Love I Can Feel" (She's Gone) and "Heptones Gonna Fight" aka "Fight It To The Top" (Let There Be Love).
