After some reissues in the past two years or so we finally get a new release from a vet singer who is often deservedly named "reggae's king of love songs". From his early days as with the legendary vocal harmony group the Paragons John Holt proves himself one of the most professional and impressive singers in the business, whose popularity throughout all those years is simply due to the warmth and love he expresses through the songs he performs. But not only that is part of his enduring success. Although he has covered a lot of great songs from others, it's also his song-writing ability which has kept his name in entertainment circles from the very first start of his long career.
"New Horizon" once again displays the vocalists' versatility with a focus on cover tunes, although some of his own songs are included as well. Of course, the majority of the material on this CD consists of love ballads - as always handled with tenderness and care - but also conscious outings are among the tunes. The entire album was recorded and mixed at the Mixing Lab and John Holt was complimented by the musicians a Legend deserves: Sly & Robbie, Lloyd "Gitsy" Willis, Robbie Lyn, Steely & Clevie and Dean Fraser. So listen up !
