"No Baby Lion" is already the third instalment of Junior Delgado's "Treasure Found" series. This new set gathers fifteen solid to excellent cuts from Delgado's vast back catalogue. The man who is also known as "Jux" has made many fine records in his enduring career. His very first recording, "Reaction", which was produced by the extraordinary Lee "Scratch" Perry in 1973, opens this great compilation album. On this solid tune Junior Delgado is accompanied by the band Time Unlimited, alongside Orville Smith and Glasford Manning, later of the Jewels. In the following year he recorded "Rasta Dreadlocks" for producer Rupie Edwards, utilizing the popular "Skanga" riddim (reworking of Johnny Clarke's "Everyday Wandering" riddim). The song was issued under the alias name the Heaven Singers. However the group disbanded in 1975 and Junior Delgado concentrated on a solo career and recorded sides for a variety of producers, amongst them Winston "Niney" Holness, Joe Gibbs, Larry Lawrence, Lee Perry (again). Also his two closest friends Augustus Pablo and Dennis Brown produced tunes from this fine roots vocalist, some of them regarded as Junior Delgado's best efforts to date. "Blackman's Heart", Away With The Fussing And Fighting", "Poverty" and "Stranger" are examples of Jux's fruitful association with the late great Augustus Pablo. The fine booklet - with great photos from the past - and the timeless music make this CD a fine and enjoyable purchase for all revive fans.
