Based in the New England area, the reggae band Joint Chiefs, have been playing to capacity crowds since 1996 and still going strong. Their debut set "No Boundary" consists of some 10 tracks, all produced by Double Jointed Sound. The band has a strong "roots & culture" feel. When listening to the album from the start, one experiences that Joint Chiefs' efforts are riddim driven pieces and that their music has a strong jazzy feel, but the reggae backdrop is present on all tracks. Check out the basslines by DZ, they are really fantastic ! The tunes offered here are fully developed compositions and four of them come with fine dub versions. All of the tunes are original material, with standout tracks being the opening tune Launch Us, followed by Balance and Culture.
Original riddims, good singing and the distinctive arrangements make this an enjoyable album !
