Party In Session is the latest live album of reggae's first Grammy-winner and former lead singer of Black Uhuru, Michael Rose. It was recorded in several places: San Francisco (1996), Red Rocks Amphitheatre (1997) and at the Sommerville Theatre in 1997. The album collects live versions of his finest moments both as a solo artist and as the lead singer of Black Uhuru. The backing is provided by the SANE band (Sounds Against Negative Expression), and the album is produced by HeartBeat's Chris Wilson.
Michael Rose is an energetic performer, blessed with a powerful voice and he gives everything when he's performing on stage. The majority of the songs are tracks he recorded when he was a part of Black Uhuru. The crowd reacts very enthusiatically when he sings these tunes. Ofcourse the listener misses the visuals which are a vital part of Michael's show, but there's a lot to enjoy on this album. For those who haven't seen a live performance of Michael Rose, this album provides a good substitute.
