"Radio Rum" is the title of Wahwahsda's long awaited and much anticipated sophomore album, the follow up to their debut set "Shiva Regal". Based in Antwerp, Belgium, the band was founded by guitarist and vocalist Spiritually Wally and MC-Rapper Sput in 2008. Both artists recorded their first album in Spiritually Wally's garage, using 1 mic, an old organ, a computer, couple guitars and even bottles. Due to the remarkable amount of positive reactions they formed a live band and started with live performances of their first show "Shiva Regal" in 2009.

Slowly but steadily they established their name on a local level and meanwhile built a still growing fanbase. In 2011 they easily sold out the premiere of their new show "Radio Rum", which also granted them the victory at the 2011 edition of the Benelux Reggae Contest one week later. Although their second album (initially intended to be a live recording) was planned to appear in the summer of 2011, they wisely didn't rush things and put the release on hold. And now -- after fine tuning, recording, mixing and mastering -- they have finally released their second studio album.

The band not only blends music styles, also lyrically they mix English lyrics (sung by Spiritually Wally) with lyrics in Antwerp dialect (done by Sput). Musically Wahwahsda has managed to create a sound of their own by combining reggae with hiphop, sometimes spiced up with a bit of rock. The album opens very strong with "All for One", a sufferer's tune full of consciousness that instantly grabs your attention. Without any doubt one of the standout tracks! Also the next effort, "The Road Ahead", makes a very good impression. It comes with a different vibe, but again lyrically keeping you involved till the end. The solid "Dreams", with a real nice organ part at the end, rounds off the opening part of this album in fine style. But luckily it doesn't stop here!

The single "Dinner For Two" with its very infectious, danceable reggae riddim could easily become a crossover hit. A tune that you can't get out of your head and can be played over and over again. More or less the same goes for the new versions of already known songs like "Heart & Brain" and "One Of Those Days". Also worthwhile hearing are the beautiful "I Know", the awesome "Destination Awaits", and "A New Day", which comes across a dark sounding riddim. Don't overlook "Know Yourself" either, a decent effort on a riddim with a great bassline.

Wahwahsda, after several changes now consisting of five band members, has delivered a surprisingly mature album. So it's truly a joy to listen to this well arranged collection of tunes, expertly mixed (free of charge as part of the Benelux Reggae Contest prize package) by engineer/producer Manu Genius of Not Easy At All Productions, known from albums with a.o. Chezidek, Apple Gabriel, Earl Sixteen and Vern Maytone.
