This pre-release promo sampler showcases the talents of Romain Virgo, who made history in 2007 as the youngest contestant ever to win Digicel Rising Stars, Jamaica's talent competition, at the age of 17. Virgo was sensational throughout the 2007 competition and outshone his opponents with singing skills that seemed to stretch beyond the talent of a 17 year old. Now two years later, his career definitely seems to be on the rise, as the tunes collected on this promo-sampler prove.Romain Virgo manages to build his musical career while still doing a five-year bachelor's degree in performance at the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts in Kingston, studying for a major in voice and minor in keyboard.

This education assures that Romain's performance will be different from others. It already earned him a performance at Tony Rebel's prestigious Rebel Salute 2009 show earlier this month and performances at the well known dancehall parties in Kingston such at Passa Passa in Tivoli gardens and Weddy Weddy at Stone Love's Headquarters in Kingston. With hard work, Romain is taking it one step at a time and will be out there and let the people know what he has to offer. Romain has been working with Donovan Germain of Penthouse Music and Dawin Brown of Vikings Sounds.

The first cut on this promo-sampler is a fabulous reworking of the 1973 Toots & The Maytals classic "Time Tough" followed by Romain Virgo's hit that still climbs up the top 10 of the Jamaican charts "Can't Sleep", his beautiful (despite its harsh message) reality tune - that brought him international attention as well through being compiled on Greensleeves "The Biggest Reggae One-Drop Anthems 2008 - across the same riddim as Beres Hammond's "I Feel Good", like the first and following two tunes produced by Donovan Germain for his Penthouse Records. "Love Doctor" is Romain Virgo's phenomenal lovers tune on Penthouse' wonderful 'Automatic'-riddim named after Marcia Griffiths' tune and her combination with Busy Signal as well as 4 more great songs.

Then tribute is paid to the late and great Godfather of Rocksteady who died on October 12, 2008 with the wonderful "Alton Ellis Medley" in which Alton's hittunes for Treasure Isle "Breaking Up" from 1968, "Ain't That Loving You" from 1967 and "Willow Tree" from 1968 are covered in great style by Romain Virgo. Dawin 'King Vikings' Brown a.k.a. Bubba of Vikings Production together with Dyan 'Pete' Foster of Pete's Music produced Romain Virgo's current single "Wanna Go Home", a true scorcher across the 'Love Is The Answer'-riddim, a relick of Delano Stewart's 1968 for Sonia Pottinger's Gay Feet label recorded "Dance With Me" a.k.a. "Rock With Me". With tunes like these 5 prime examples it will hopefully only be a matter of time until Romain Virgo's official debut album is released to make this rising star rise even higher.
