The debut album "Scarecrow" from Florida (?) based Johnny Dread is a good example of contemporary reggae. Recorded at various studios in Florida and Jamaica one can notice that the vibe is positive, the energy youthful and cultural. The backing is rich and (at times too) full. Almost every tune is an original riddim, except for a cover of the Tommy Roe's pop smash hit "Dizzy" , which is the only weak track on "Scarecrow".
