Although Jamaican vocalist Sheldon Senior sung in live bands such as the Step by Step Band from Mandeville and the popular Fab 5 Band, won the Tasty Talent Contest for Best Original Song and Best Dressed Artist in 1996 and worked with some of the most talented producers and musicians, he's still waiting for his breakthrough to a wide audience. After having spent several years in England, where he accomplished a BA Degree in Mathematics and a Teaching Diploma in Fashion Design, he's back in Jamaica to concentrate on his music career.

After having released tunes such as "Dark Skin Girl", "Mother's Love", "Greet Them With Love", "No Liar" and "Heaven Is Not Too Far", Sheldon Senior now comes up with the brand new "Break Through EP". It's the compelling roots piece "Jah Love Is Coming" that gets this EP started in a real big way. This song sees Sheldon Senior utilizing a vocal style that is strongly reminiscent of the late Garnet Silk. Always good to hear vocalists singing in that kinda style. For "In The Mood To Dance", a real nice lovers tune, he shows that, when required by the type of riddim he has to ride, he's able to adjust his vocal style with ease. The conscious "Wise Up" is a strong effort, that matches the opening track. The fast-paced, drum&bass/jungle sounding "Mash It Up Again" has again hints of Garnet Silk's vocal style. Musically it's a decent tune, but lyrics like "reggae music mash it up again, flash it up again, reggae music pull it up again, back it up again, irie" aren't to our liking.

Listening to the four tracks on this "Break Through EP", it's obvious that Sheldon Senior is an artist to keep an eye on in the near future.
