It's been quite a while since we've heard noteworthy new recordings by Everton Blender, the singer from Clarendon, Jamaica, who scored international hits with great conscious tunes such as "Lift Up Your Head," "Ghetto People Song," "Blend Dem," and "Family Man," to name only a few. Some two years after the release of his self-produced Heartbeat album "King Man" Everton Blender comes up with a four track Maxi-CD for Toronto based production house Explorer Recording Inc. The 'Blendah' delivers three brand new tunes in his well known sweet expressive vocal style over 'live' played riddims. That his vocal style has been wrought in the modern dancehall can be clearly witnessed when listening to "Blendah Nah Gone No Weh." The self-conscious references to his own name on this tune is perhaps his most obvious legacy from the dancehall. With "Travel The World" he brings a big conscious effort. It's truly a joy to hear this tune over and over again. That he's equally at home with Lover's rock is proven with the wonderful "She Is Leaving." The only minus is the inclusion of a Hiphop Remix version of "Travel The World," because this simply doesn't work with tunes delivered by an artist like Everton Blender. Except for the Hiphop Remix all tracks are featured on Everton Blender's new album "It's Time".
