Approximately half a year after Penthouse Records released the first volume of Tony Rebel's "Collectors Series" there is more musical niceness of this cultural-oriented singer/deejay gathered on his "Collectors Series Vol. 2". Since Rebel's debut in 1988 his association with Penthouse producer Donovan Germain proved the most successful move in his career. "Mandela Story" - included on this compilation set - was one of the first singles Tony Rebel recorded for this producer, who truly gave this ever conscious artist the opportunity to establish his style. "Collectors Series Vol. 2" is a solid compilation set containing some of Tony Rebel's best efforts, solo as well as in combination with such great artists as Buju Banton, Marcia Griffiths, Cocoa Tea and Beres Hammond. The strong and appealing Penthouse riddims, dominated by the heavy rolling bass line, add an extra dimension to Rebel's conscious outings and take his music to an even higher level. Best tracks include the combination tunes "Stepping To Mt. Zion" and "Respect & Honour" as well as "Good People", "Jah By Your Side" and "Human Blood". Of course, this compilation set contains nothing new for the true Tony Rebel fan, but those who aren't familiar with the works of this artist should spent their money on this one... and "Collectors Series Vol. 1" !
