Hailing from the Mannings Hill Road section of Jamaica, Turbulence - real name Sheldon Campbell - makes his full length album debut on this self titled release. His single, "Word Wid It", also featured on the Xterminator compilation set "The Herbalist", attracted notable attention and won him the praise of critics worldwide. Turbulence was discovered by ace producer Phillip "Fatis" Burrell, who made him a member of his highly respected Xterminator Crew. "Fatis" has been dedicated to finding the right riddims for Turbulence to ride. However, the producer did not provide Turbulence with the kind of riddims one might expect from the Xterminator production camp - which has largely built a reputation through their excellent, reworked scorcher riddims from the past - but gave him mainly fresh, ragga oriented riddims to deliver his conscious and uplifting messages. Vocally and lyrically Turbulence, who sometimes comes on like a cross between Sizzla and Jah Cure, makes a decent impression on his debut album, which features such solid efforts like "Living In Sufferation", "Hold The Faith", "Freedom Call", "Naw Beg No Friend" and "For The Nation". Pretty sure we will be hearing a lot more niceness of this up-and-coming artist in the near future !
