Trinidad born Dakeye (real name Richard Marshall) has been influenced by reggae greats like Ken Boothe and Alton Ellis and Soul artists such as Teddy Pendergrass and Marvin Gaye. With his soulful sultry voice the singer tries to captivate his audience to take a more positive outlook on love, life and social changes. Almost a decade ago, in the fall of 1999, Dakeye scored a hit with the promotional single "Take Your Time" on the Melodians' classic "Come On Little Girl" riddim. It was Dakeye's debut collaborative effort with Citizen K Productions (formerly CanJa Sounds Music), founded and operated by producer/engineer/bassist Kevin L Brown aka Spyda. The success story of "Take Your Time" included charting in the Jamaica Star top 20 hit for that year in Miami FL.

Now Dakeye returns with another collaborative effort with Kevin 'Spyda' Brown, which might become equally successful as "Take Your Time". After having enjoyed success with a smooth lovers song, he now explores the rougher dancehall territory. With "Turn It Up" Dakeye delivers a true dancehall scorcher across the very infectious "Sexy Beast" riddim. This real dancefloor filler has additional remixed versions including a Spanish-English combination featuring reggaeton/dancehall artist Amor Latino as well as a rap version with a guest appearance by newcomer hip-hop artist DNA.

Rounding out the single is a bass heavy roots-reggae track, "Wicked Man". This solid groove over a relicked version of Carl Malcolm's "Miss Wire Waist" riddim strongly differs from the lead track. The completely different vibe fully shows that Dakeye is able to handle different musical styles in a convincing way.

The "Turn It Up" EP can be obtained as Digital Release and hard copy at CDBaby. (release date: December 11th, 2008).
