500 % Dynamite! is the follow up to the splendid compilation albums 400 % Dynamite, 300 % Dynamite, 200 % Dynamite and 100 % Dynamite. All these excellent albums - all dressed in a bright funky sleeve, strongly reminiscent of those in fashion during the seventies - have been compiled by the crew of Soul Jazz Records, based in North London. As Soul Jazz's eclectic reggae mix reaches its fifth volume, this one being even more eclectic than previous releases with modern tracks like Morgan Heritage & Bounty Killer's Guns In The Ghetto and Red Rat's Goody 2 Shoes shoulder to shoulder with Augustus Pablo's East Of The River Nile and Toots & The Maytals' Bam Bam, all alongside roots classics such as Freddie McGregor's Natural Collie and Jacob Miller's Healing Of The Nation and even some lovers rock from Marcia Aitken who presents one of her biggest hit I'm Still In Love, a recut of the Alton Ellis Studio One hit. Joe Gibbs and Errol Thompson's dub classic African Dub Chapter Three is a distorted 70s recut of the Swing Easy riddim. The contemporary hip/hop reggae classic Party Wit Me from Tiger Ranks meets the Mudie's All Star's deep soulful funk classic Loran's Dance, and the funky ska - Frankenstein - from Byron Lee will get your feet movin'.
Highly enjoyable and groovy stuff !
