The compilation set "Big People Music Volume 6" is Jet Star's latest instalment in their 'Big People Music' series, which is a compilation of melodic reggae versions of songs that have become standards throughout the years. As always it features a special selection that mainly aims at the more 'mature' listener who wants to listen to sweet and soulful songs.
The impressive line-up of artists includes UK reggae stars Donna Marie, Pamela Maynard, Winston Reedy and Phoebe One. This volume also features some well known Jamaican artists like George Nooks, Ambelique, Tinga Stewart and Richie Stephens. The latter delivers the best tune on the album, entitled Sayanara. George Nooks comes up with a classic Billy Joel tune called The Way You Are. The late great Slim Smith is present here with his hit The Beattitude (aka 'Blessed Are The Meek') across a new backing. Tinga Stewart's Let The Music Play is a decent effort across a remake of Studio One's classic 'Rougher Yet' riddim. Phoebe One is blessed with a fantastic voice and her rendition of Bob Dylan's Knocking On Heaven's Door across the 'Eye Water' riddim is truly an outstanding tune.
Nuff sweet and soulful tunes here for the romantic periods in your life !
