Nyle Banks Music is a Jamaican record label founded by Fyakin aka Nicholas Levy. Born in St Andrew, Jamaica in 1988 he realized at an early age that 'writing and chanting' was his destiny. He gratefully credits all he has accomplished to the positivity imparted by his older brother, Neumowatt, a brilliant songwriter. He acknowledges the influences of reggae artists such as Gyptian, Burning Spear, I-Wayne, Richie Spice, Damian "Jr Gong" Marley and Sizzla, in steering Fyakin's career in the right direction. If music can ever be described to have an element of "refined rawness" then you have aptly described Fyakin's music. Fyakin is here to claim his piece of the pie with his honest lyrics and signature delivery.
His latest effort production wise is the "Black Roots" riddim. The mesmerizing mid-tempo roots reggae riddim grabs you instantly and it's a pity there are only six cuts to the riddim! Fyakin and deejay Chris "I'd rather be Influential than Famous" Matic bring a strong rootical tune called "Revelation". The combination of the two voices works really well! Next tune that we love to the max is "Tuff Like Iron", an inspiring roots tune. Female vocalist Tuff Like Iron recorded here first tune "I'm Talking To You" in 2013. Further recordings include "Equal Rights And Justice" and "Keep Your Head Up." She describes her music as reggae, with traces of dancehall, hip hop and World music: "It's a very international vibe with that real roots feeling that people want."
Andy Ites is blessed with an expressive vocal delivery. With his tune "Reparation Time" he urges the right ones to take what "is rightfully ours". New York based singjay Quarter Bill delivers a smooth R&B influenced tune called "That's Her". Soul J is a conscious reggae/hip-hop artist, recording both in English-Patois and Hebrew. He started as a part of the Hip-Hop group 713 (G.A Clan) but gained recognition as a solo artist. His debut album in Hebrew entitled "Mashehu Hayav Likrot" ("Something's Gotta Give") was released at the end of 2012. With his tune Love You he brings the listener a strong lovers tune. The best known artist on this compilation is Lutan Fyah. Singing his social commentary, he rides the riddim effortlessly with a natural flow. Wicked tune!
Strong riddim and excellent performances!
