We have stopped counting them but here's another installment in VP Records' "Riddim Driven" series that hits the streets and this time it features the "Blindfold" riddim. Recorded and mixed at King Jammy's Recording Studio and produced by Lloyd "John John" James Jnr. for Lady Saw's "Hall Productions" the "Blindfold" perfectly fits in the current trend to produce riddims which incorporate flavors of East Indian dance music. Thus you can easily get the feeling that you've heard it all before. With the 7" singles already creating some hype in the dance halls, it's obvious that the dancehall massive had to be treated to a "one riddim" set. The usual suspects are featured here including Capleton, Ward 21, Sizzla, Tanto Metro & Devonte, Lady Saw and Wayne Wonder/Surprize. Mainly these artists already enjoyed notable success with their single releases for the riddim. Especially Capleton's "Hunt Dem Food" and "Ward 21's "Regular" are awesome efforts. Furthermore this compilation features decent cuts such as Ce'Cile's Gal Company", Bling Dawg's Bark Fi Di Gal Dem", Galaxy P's "Yard Man Deh Ah Foreign" and Nitty Kutchie's "Skin Haffi Burn", the latter coming with the version. All in all this "Riddim Driven" album features a nice mid-tempo dancehall riddim with some outstanding cuts.
