VP's 'hotter than hot' series 'Riddim Driven' comes up with a string of singles across the "Bondage" (aka "Gideon") riddim which is dedicated to the deejay Alozade (Michael Sterling) who is currently incarcerated based on incidents arising from the enforcement of a non-profanity ruling by police at the Champions In Action stage show in Kingston, Jamaica earlier this year. Album producers Byron Murray and Clifford Smith (a.k.a. Mr. Vegas) have brought together a cross section of conscious dancehall artists to pay tribute to their deejay contemporary and blaze up this revision of the Heptones classic Studio One "I Shall Be Released" riddim. Voiced across this well known and popular riddim are some awesome tunes such as Sizzla's Long Live The King which happens to be one of Kalonji's strongest tracks, Anthony Bís Bad Man (who also met with controversy this year for his tune "Good Cop") and Luciano's Not Until. This strong collection features more noteworthy tracks. From Tony Rebel (coming off of the massive hit "Just Friends") comes Canít Believe and dancehall legend Sugar Minott delivers a fine tune with If A So We A Go Live, while Queen Africa (daughter of Denroy Morgan) sings her original song True Divine.
