The year 2015 saw Ocho Rios, St Ann based YGF Records (Young Generation Fraternity Records) moving into new territory, in terms of production, links with overseas based players in the music industry and tour. Among the label's notable achievements was the release of riddim projects such as the "Club Banger Riddim", "Leaf Of Life Riddim", "Tomorrow People Riddim" and the "Bicycle Frame Riddim". Besides that YGF Records released singles from Negus and Jahvillani and produced Karry-Ann Scorpian's "Island Girl Remix", which featured Zagga, and the female singer's "Island Girl EP". Furthermore they made links with other entities in the music industry, forging alliances with Junkyard Music Productions, Akam Entertainment, Hitmatic Records and Street Platinum Records.
And now, at the beginning of 2016, they've put out the "Chronicles Of Success" project featuring newcomers like Vershon, Deep Jahi and Stephen Dajure alongside better known artists such as Jahvillani, Zamunda and Zagga and, of course, the biggest name on this set, Chezidek. All artists involved in this project deliver songs full of consciousness in which they touch themes that have elements such as poverty, love, death, money, and power.
In recent years promising deejay Dujon Edwards aka Jahvillani has done recordings for several producers. These recordings included "Which Part Mi Grow" on the "Pressure Riddim", "Gal Come Over" on the "Quick Touch Riddim", "RIP" on the "Dreamers Passion Riddim", "Money Weh Yuh Tun" on Kwashana Records' "Mama Koka Riddim" and "Mouth Bad Man" on YGF Records' "Bicycle Frame Riddim". With "Get Rich Or Die Trying" he delivers a decent conscious tune across the slow-paced "Chronicles Of Success", a real fine backdrop with nice acoustic guitar sounds. Vocally and lyrically Vershon's "Neva Happy Fi Mi" makes a serious impression. A real big tune by a very promising artist! Also Zagga comes up with a very satisfying piece called "It's OK", while Zamunda brings in the matching "Two Grands". Next up are the rather unknown Stephen Dajure and Deep Jahi, who both show potential with their songs "Rastafari Name" and the powerful "Motivation". Chezidek rounds off this collection in great style with a lovers piece entitled "Real Thing".
With their "Chronicles Of Success" project, YGF Records has started off 2016 in a good way!
