One of those riddims we played more than once in 2014 is the "Herb Family" riddim. To our own surprise we noticed that we didn't review this nice little smooth one drop riddim.

The riddim is produced By Natty Megs of MoreLife Productions & VIS Records who created a sweet easy skanking, but yet powerful one drop riddim. Very Important Sound (VIS), started by Gowdie Ranks in the early 1990s, is still going hard with quality driven productions. MoreLife Productions is located in Forestville, California, and the "Herb Family" riddim is their first official riddim release, and it's a smasher!

The riddim is voiced by several household names such as Sizzla, Delly Ranx, Fantan Mojah and Teflon. Sizzla delivers one of his better tracks since long. Rasta Nah Gwaan So sees him in fine style, chanting like he used to do! Fantan Mojah gives his best with a strong and militant roots tune called Roots & Culture, but Delly Ranx rides the riddim best! His tune Sweet Reggae is a tribute to the music we love so much! Boom Tune!

But not only household names deliver their goods inna fine blazing style. Jabalance has made a name for himself as a promising newcomer on the roots & culture side of reggae. Born Lance Dehaney, January 10, 1985 in Port Antonio, he's definitely one of the names you should watch out for! Most tunes on this set are paying tribute to marijuana, and Jabalance's Herbsman is the perfect start for a BIG herb excursion! The same artist returns for another strong effort called For You Have Jah. Kali Blax delivers a truly noteworthy effort with Call On Jah, an upright tribute to Jah. Cannabis Life by Ras Daniel is yet another fine herb praising song and don't forget to spin the other spliff tunes by The Lambsbread and Hytanyah & Grass Man...

Ligt up the Chalice and spin The Herb Family Riddim!
