The (digital) release of the "Perfect Key" riddim is good news for any reggae fan who still cherishes 'one drop' riddims like "Drop Leaf", "Seasons", "Heavenly", and "Istanbul". This brand new riddim, produced by Dale Virgo who has worked with international superstars such as Rihanna, Drake, Snoop Dogg, Wyclef and Amy Winehouse among others, is strongly reminiscent of the aforementioned riddims and thus is sure to catch your ear. These kinda 'one drop' riddims have proven to be soothing backdrops for lovers pieces with a nice r&b flavour, and the selected group of artists that have voiced the "Perfect Key" riddim shows that once again.

It's rising reggae singer Christopher Martin who gets things going with his powerful tribute for mothers called "Mama". Expressing your love for your mother and proclaiming she was a priority in your life has been done many times before by artists like Sizzla, Bounty Killer, Prezident Brown, Bushman, Perfect, Wayne Wonder and Lukie D, to name only seven. Now this solid effort by Christopher Martin can be added to the extensive list of Jamaican "Mama" songs. Then it's time for Ce'Cile to treat the listener to one of the standout tunes on the riddim. "African King", a great tune with hit potential, sees the 'Bad Gyal' delivering lyrics to serenade men of a darker tone. A 'remix version' of the song features up-and-coming singer Chronixx and is a real nice addition to this this riddim set. Also Divine Brown's "Melody Of My Heart" is definitely hit bound. This Canadian r&b singer, known internationally for touring with the Back Street Boys, shows that her style's well suited to r&b as well as reggae. Also the remaining cuts deal with lovers themes and are well worth hearing, with especially Ikaya drawing attention with her making use of tactful lyrics in "Soldier Love" to express herself on an entirely different topic as she launcges an attack on a 'king-size battlefield'.

An appealing 'one drop' riddim and entertaining cuts sung with near perfection make this "Perfect Key" juggling set worth checking.
